Horsepower Has a Spirited Time at Miami Valley

Hi, I'm Mackenzie, a first year member of Horsepower robotics, and this is my T.T.I., the time I went to the FIRST FRC Miami Valley Regional.

The competition started off with a long bus ride consisting of seniors blasting Tik Tok music (thanks Kelsey) leading to McDonalds where the nice worker gave me a free ice cream. Skipping past getting to the hotel, in the morning we all paraded down to the free breakfast then left soon after. Before heading off to competition we went to the Air Force Museum where we saw another FRC team, number 1559. Once we got to the competition we started pit scouting and handing out care packages to teams who traveled a long distance.

Thursday night we had chicken fest where the official robotics squad was formed. Here is the origin story (keep this in kelsey it's important to the story I promise) Alice, Hiba, Dom, Ethan, and I waiting for chicken because we all came down when they actually said to instead of an hour after *cough Kelsey Cough* Along with vibing with fried chicken, Alice tried to tell us that tomatoes have bones which we still don't believe.

On day 2 of competition the official matches started and we were thankfully paired with great teams and made it up the ranks to #4. However things took a turn and some parts of the robot started to break. God bless Clare and Kohlton, they had to fix it all. Soon we dropped places but it was fine, the cheering squad was still getting hyped up. Along with cheering and scouting, Hiba, Dom, and Paige were preparing for chairman's which they did phenomenal. On the way home we got BIG BOYS. I got an ice cream brownie thing and it was FIRE.

MOVING ON

Time for the final day, Saturday Genuine Risk was again not doing so well. It's fine though he was vibing, Clare not so much though but it’s fine. After our final match we still wanted to cheer and then two girls from team 144 asked if they could cheer with us (Woo coopertition). Then during the elimination matches after teams were picked, I saw another team dancing I wanted to join, so I stood up and started doing their dances with them. Even when we moved sides I continued because why not. Apparently they noticed because eventually one of them came over and was like “dude you rock” and i was like “Yeah dude” then they left.

Now onto Kelsey's request of talking about actual important stuff. During day one qualifiers Horsepower was part of the very first triple balanced climb which was a big deal because only three happened during the entire qualifying matches (we were a part of two of them). Along with being the first to triple climb we ended up winning the Spirit award which we worked hard for and ended up losing our voices for. It was worth it though. The feeling was amazing running down those stairs going to get the award while all the teams you talked and made friends with cheer you on. Shout out to the Titanium Titans moms who were just as happy as us about winning the award. I appreciate you. Also congrats to our faves 1787 on winning the whole thing!
